The Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005 aim to protect workers from noise-related health risks by setting exposure limits and action values: lower exposure action values (80 dB(A) daily/weekly, 135 dB(C) peak) and upper exposure action values (85 dB(A) daily/weekly, 137 dB(C) peak). Employers must assess noise risks, implement control measures, provide and ensure the use of hearing protection if needed, and conduct health surveillance for those regularly exposed above the upper limits. Additionally, employers must provide relevant training, mark high-noise areas with signs, and maintain records of risk assessments and health surveillance.
