Project Overview
MR Acoustics was commissioned by Annai Mary Private Ltd. to conduct post-completion sound insulation testing at a residential property located at 199 Westburn Road, Aberdeen. The project involved evaluating the effectiveness of acoustic improvements implemented in a converted traditional building, focusing on airborne sound transmission through the floor of the converted retail space into the flat above.

The post-completion sound insulation tests at 199 Westburn Road demonstrated substantial improvements in the acoustic performance of the separating floors, especially in areas where significant works were feasible. In particular, the open plan space areas showed a marked increase in sound insulation, fully meeting the current Scottish Building Standards for conversions of traditional buildings.
